My Process

There are two ways to get tattooed by me.

Option One — Collectible Tattoo Artwork

This is the main way I work — and honestly, the way I enjoy working most. I regularly release one-off tattoo artworks through my shop. These are single edition pieces designed as complete works of art first, then translated onto skin.

Once a piece is sold and tattooed, it’s gone forever.

The collage nature of my work means every image is carefully balanced and intentionally built. After more than twenty years of creating tattoos like this, I’ve learned that even the smallest change can completely alter the feel, flow or emotional weight of a piece.

The final artwork is the result of instinct, experience, experimentation and a lot of trial and error over the years.

This process works best for clients who enjoy browsing a collection of artwork and waiting for an image to genuinely connect with them.

Once you purchase a piece, we can still personalise elements of the design together — things like text, colour palettes or small details — while keeping the integrity of the original artwork intact.

In my experience, this approach creates the strongest tattoos.

The concept already exists. The composition is already resolved. Instead of endlessly chasing ideas, we can focus on creating the best possible final tattoo.

Option Two — Custom Tattoo Artwork

I also offer fully custom tattoo projects for clients looking for something more personal and collaborative.

Before going down the custom route, there’s something important to understand about the way I work.

My tattoos have never really been about “things.” They’re about emotion, atmosphere, tension, identity, memory — all the complicated human stuff that’s difficult to explain with words alone.

Over the years I’ve realised expressive faces communicate those ideas far more powerfully than objects ever can. Because of that, I primarily work as a portrait artist through collage, abstraction and distortion.

That face might belong to a screaming woman, a skull, a religious figure, a surreal character or something completely abstract — but expression and emotion are usually the thread connecting the work together.

The best custom tattoos happen when clients lean into that visual language rather than trying to force completely unrelated concepts into it.

The easiest and most successful way to approach a custom project is usually to begin with one of my existing artworks and either:

  • Use it as a foundation to evolve into your own piece
  • Use it as inspiration for something completely new

That approach tends to create tattoos that still feel deeply personal while remaining true to the work I’m known for.

Custom Work Is Best Suited To Clients Who:

  • Want fully bespoke artwork
  • Enjoy collaboration
  • Understand that strong design takes time
  • Are comfortable allowing space for interpretation and artistic freedom

If you’re looking for trend-based tattoos, quick flash or exact copies of reference images, this probably won’t be the right fit.

If you’re ready to begin a custom piece, all you have to do to start the  process is »email me« with your idea any further questions you might have.
